Hello,
I'm having problems with our 16 month old Amana over the range microwave. A week ago, the microwave just went dead. I noticed a surge in the dining room lights and immediately thought fuse. I took apart the control panel and located the 250 amp fuse. I checked the fuse and it was dead. I replaced the fuse and the microwave seemed to work. Then tonight, when I went to use it, the fuse in the microwave blew again. Can you provide any guidance as to what the problem might be?
Thanks

Are you sure the size of the fuse is 250 amp? It suppose to be no more than 20 amp. Verify it, please.
Can you describe how the fuse got blown second time?
Did it happen right after you pushed the "start" button?
If not - how long the microwave worked before the fuse gone bad?
Gene.

Hi Gene,
I confirmed the fuse when I bought it at a local hardware store. The fuse says 250V20A. I will have to confirm that the same fuse was replaced. If not, that could explain it, I guess.
I replaced the fuse the same day that it blew the second time. The closk on the panel was set and was fine. Then my wife went to use it and as soon as she hit the start button, there was a slight surge (the lights inb the dining room flickered momentarily) and the microwave was dead again.

Most likely the problem caused by the door switches (#8 & #9 on the break down diagram) or the shorted high voltage capacitor (#15 on the break down diagram). The original high voltage capacitor is no longer available but you can replace it with the aftermarket capacitor made by QBP. - The part number for the high voltage capacitor is AP3522366 - The part number for the monitor switch (#9) is AP3802034 - The part number for the door interlock switch (#8) is AP3772783 Gene.
