My 6 year old Kenmore front load washer won't spin although the motor appears to be running. The clothes were soaking wet when the wash cycle concluded, so we set the washer to Drain/Spin. The pump appeared to be running because we could hear it sucking water, but the drum didn't move. The cycle light showed "Final Spin", but the drum didn't move at all. When it reached the point in the cycle when it tosses the clothes towards the end, the drum did the back and forth toss function. But, the clothes were still soaking wet. I'm assuming that the drum worked when the clothes were washing. The drum wouldn't spin when using either the "Rinse/Spin" or "Drain/Spin" functions. This machine has electronic controls.

Inside the lower service panel are tech notes that will explain how to generate some diagnostic codes and how to test components. Focus on the speed/motor control board, that is a weak point in the models.
