I have an LG WM2688HNM in a state of partial disassembly and I am stuck trying to separate the inner and outer tubs. I have been watching the APP video (Washer Seal and Bearings (part #4036ER2004A and others)-How To Replace - YouTube) and in that video at 15:45 Matt gives the shaft on the backside a couple of moderate whacks with a hammer and the drums separate. I have worked up a bit of a sweat pounding on the shaft and it hasn't moved a millimeter.

I am letting some penetrating oil soak in overnight, but I am not too optimistic on that doing the trick. I see no visible rust or any reason that these two tubs shouldn't separate. Is there something that I am missing, that isn't in the video? The back of my drum is somewhat different than the one in the video, in that it doesn't have a large metal plate. Mine is just plastic.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

As expected, the overnight soak of the penetrating oil had no affect. I still can't get the drums apart.

I am having the same issue. Were you able to get it separated? Any suggestions?

Yeah, I got them separated. I had to use a metal punch and basically demolish the old bearings and pull the pieces out with a pair of pliers. Brute force, not fun
