This washer tends to work good until the last spin.

Raising the lid and moving the agitator helps it complete its' cycle.

What would cause this. The loads are light and don't seem to be off balance.

The strange part of this is that you are saying it goes through the first spin ok.

The things you want to check first are the clutch and the lid switch. If it is having trouble starting to spin some times after the agitation cycle the clutch is the likely problem.
