My Refrigerator/Freezer stopped cooling/freezing. The compressor was fairly hot, I tried unplugging it for a hour to "cool off" and then tried turning it back on, still nothing. The compressor doesn't seem to be starting up, it hums and I do hear one click but that's about all I can hear. The fan is turning on and running and the coils are pretty clean. When I turn the freezer control on from off the light in the refrigerator dims some. Assuming its the compressor but thought maybe it was the Start Device, Run Capacitor or something else. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Put a portable fan on the compressor to cool it down, then remove the start device. If it rattles when shook, it's bad, order one on this site. If ok, your compressor may be drawing excessive current and shutting down on it's overload.
