Hello, My Goodman central compressor wire leads corroded last year so it shorted out and terminals are melted beyond repair. I'm trying to get somebody in to check it out but how do you know if the freon is bad? and secondly if the freon is good what is the exact replacement compressor number. As of now i have H23B223ABCA. It ran fine until this happened of course. Thanks

if your wires burned off the terminals, and the compressor is still intact, no holes blown in the compressor, then your freon should be ok. Problem is, if there is not enough stud to attach the wiring to, then you are going to lose all that freon when the compressor or condenser is replaced. Just because the wires have burned off, and not that the terminals burned off the compressor, means all is lost, it all depends on how much you want to try to get this compressor back up and running. Even if all of the flat part of the terminal is gone there are still some junk yard tricks you can do, which I have done and see them run for another year or two that way. Not real pretty or pro looking, but at least its cooling your house.
