My washer suddenly made loud noise during cycle, then started banging around and smoking. Had to stop and open with water still in drum, causing flooding in room, as I opened I could smell burning and lots of smoke came out. As I took soaked clothing out of washer I found pieces of what seems to be part of the seal that was right up against the drum. Any suggestions on what and how to take apart to figure out what I need to replace etc. in order to fix my washer?

I am thinking part of your support structure failed. Take off the back and top and see what you can determine. But given the cost of the parts and the damage done it may be that the machine is uneconomical to repair. These are good washers but when they have problems the repairs are complex and expensive.
