I have a Maytag electric dryer (Model #: PYE2000AYW), and the timer has stopped moving for a few months already. When I put the knob in a cycle, it does not move, and the dryer would keep running until I turn the knob back to OFF position. In addition, regardless which cycle I put it (e.g., delicate), it always runs in the regular cycle with normal heat.

How to check if the timer is totally bad? Or should I just replace the timer?

Thanks!

Are you saying that the timer does advance when in a timed dry cycle? Just doesn't advance in auto dry cycles?

Thanks! No, the timer does *not* move at all regardless which cycle I set it in. Also, even if I set the knob in Delicate cycle, the dryer would run as if in Regular cycle.

In that case, you have a faulty timer.
