Freezer doesn't get cold at all. Compressor too hot to hold my hand on it but it runs. Unplugged it for 48 hours then plugged it back in, same thing. Bought this from Home Depot along with refrigerator. Now both have had problems.

A model number may help others help you.

Is the compressor vibrating?
Is there a condenser/compressor fan?
If there is, is the fan on?

Below is a link to how to check compressor windings.
How To Fix a Refrigerator - Appliance Repair Guide - ACME HOW TO.com

Note that this is not a definitive test.
It will tell you if a compressor is bad but does not tell you that the compressor is good as it may have winding to winding shorts or mechanical problems.

Same goes for a capacitor as they may only fail when actual working voltage (120 volts) is applied to them.

If the start device seems OK mechanically then the only good way to check for a problem is to give a new one a try.

Here are your parts
Parts for GE FUF21SVDRWW Freezer - AppliancePartsPros.com

Since the compressor is running and you get no cooling at all I would say that it is a sealed system problem.
This will be an expensive repair and often it makes more sense to put the dollars towards a new unit.

I would check your warranty as sometimes the sealed system has a longer warranty that just one year.

I am assuming that the evaporator fan in the freezer is running.
It should be on whenever the compressor is on.
