I just cleaned out the dust and lint from inside the cabinet and duct work of my Whirlpool Duet Sport Dryer. I went to dry the first load and as soon as I hit the START button it made a loud pop and tripped the circuit breaker. (first time ever) I opened it up again and searched for any signs of shorted out wires and found nothing. no singes anywhere. I put it back together again and tried again. The control panel lights up when you press the POWER button and you can change the settings as normal, but as soon as you press the START button it make the loud "pop" and trips the breaker. Do I need a new control panel? Can just the START button be bad and can that part only be replaced? I am not very savvy when it come to electronic stuff... Need some help. Thanks, Paul

You probably have shorted something to ground while in there cleaning the lint. Check the terminal connections on the belt switch, thermal fuse, thermal cutoff, hi-limit thermostat, heater coil and exhaust thermistor.

It can be any thing but first of all start from checking electromagnatic filter with multi meter if it gives continuty beep then it is the fault.
