Hi, tonight I noticed that my dryer timer was not moving, and the dryer was just running, and running. I also then noticed that it was not getting hot at all. The timer is working in the timed section, but still no heat. It looks like it may be either the heating element or the thermal fuse. How can I tell which one? Thanks Dave.

Motor would not run if thermal fuse was blown. Most likely an open heater element. Unplug dryer, take back cover off and check continuity of the heater element. Open heater would give exact symptoms you are having, timer advances in timed dry but not auto dry, no heat in either.

Thanks Eric, I will have to borrow a meter from my neighbor, but it definitely sounds like the element then.
