My oven does not preheat to the proper temp and we cannot seem to get it to a good cooking temp. We have purchased a themometor to put inside and still cannot get to good temp. When we try to cook we have to almost double the cook times and it still is not getting things done. Any suggestions?

Need the last digit of your Model Number as ther are different tech/wiring sheets depending on the revision. Could be one of your elements is blown or the temperature sensor. Here is a good site with info on both http://www.applianceaid.com/elecrange.html |

I have a similar problem on a drop in unit.
Whirlpool drop in unit RS696PXBQ2 (single oven)
Oven heats up but cooking time is erratic. Sometimes cooking time is perfect and other times the food is about 3/4 done.
Any suggestions?
