The washer is heating the water in Auto wash but not Regular wash. So I'm thinking the heater is ok.

You are correct, that confirms all heater circuit components are good. That suggests that the new board may be at fault since some cycles are working, some are not.

Is it worth the effort of pulling the machine out and cleaning/replacing the aqua sensor or do you think I should try another control board?

I would check the sensor first.

I checked the aqua sensor and then ran the dishwasher again in Auto Wash. The delay after the detergent door opens is not as long as before but there is still a 20 to 40 min idle period. During the delay the washer cycles on and off periodically and then goes back to idle. The water temp coming from the faucet is 125 degrees but when I test the temp inside the washer it's 110 for most of the wash cycle. I tested the water at the end of wash and it was around 130 not 150 like the manual states. I've also noticed the sanitation light is not illuminated at the end of the rinse cycle. It appears the heater is working but not to its full capacity. Is there a thermostat to replace or do I replace the heater assembly? Could a faulty heater cause the delay during the wash cycle?

If the heater is not heating as well as it should, it can cause delays. Is it possible that minerals have built up from hard water, making the heater less efficient?

Is there a way to clean the heater? Or do you recommend replacing?

There is a product called Lemi Shine available at most stores that works well. You can use it initially to clean them use with every load to maintain. That will help if that is the case.
