I originally had a soap dispenser in my dishwasher that wouldn't open. I replaced it and it still wouldn't open during a cycle. I ran some diagnostics and found my control panel was not working correctly, so I replaced that also. Now it works great and the wash cycle runs as it is supposed to. However, the new soap dispenser still won't open. Any help with this problem please?!?!?! It's maddening for an appliance that's not 2 years old yet!!!

Since you ran diagnostics I am assuming that you have the tech sheet.
I would check the dispenser solenoid. Should be around 300 ohms.
A more definitive test would be to disconnect it and then hook it up to a line cord. Then plug the line cord in to see if it opens. Do not leave the power on to it very long as you could burn out the solenoid.
If it opens then check the wires from it to the control board.
If they are OK then odds are that the control board is toast. |

Thanks for the info - I checked the new soap dispenser solenoid - 280 ohms. Wires look ok also from solenoid to the board.
Interestingly, I checked my old soap dispenser solenoid and did not get any resistance. Would this fact, along with the fact that my control panel (and now it looks as if the control board) are toast mean that some kind of short or electrical issue caused the control board, panel, and solenoid to all become damaged???
Looks like I'll replace the control board as it seems to be the only culprit left standing.

Yes it could have been a fault on the control board that took out the solenoid.
Many solenoids will burn out if activated for too long. |

I had similar problems with my Maytag. For some reason, when I cleaned out the filters (they were really filthy), everything worked perfectly with my soap dispenser. I could not see why this would solve the problem but it did. Maybe there it was just coincidence, but I am not going to complain as the machine is working fine now.
