The dryer seems to operate ok, but when the heat starts up, it makes a whining noise and does not stop. The noise only starts once the ignitor lights the dryer. Again, everything seems to work ok...What could this be?

I assume your dryer is gas and it's probably the coils..........here's a video how to test them sorry its not your unit but your model number is incorrect or incomplete but this gives you an idea how to do it......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiJONdPShuQ

It is a gas dryer. I replaced the coils and it is still making the noise as soon as the gas is ignited. The noise definitely sounds like it is coming from the burner assembly area. Any other possibilities?

Your dryer model is invalid and can't help you much without a valid model number.......look on the unit inside the door area or on body inside door or back of the unit.......Also you need to disassemble machine and see if it's a motion noise..............does the noise happen when the drum is turning with no heat? try a low heat or no heat cycle if you have one and see if it persists..........If the coils didn't fix the problem and it's a heat related noise then you'll have to replace the whole burner assembly

Whirlpool Duet Gas Dryer from 2005 - Model GGW9250PWO. Does not make the noise until the heat comes on. Once it is ignited, the whining starts and doesn't stop until the heat stops.
