The under hood light has three positions; Off/On High/On Low but now is on high when panel says high or low, It does turn off and on but would like to get the low option back on. Have changed the bulb and the same. thanks

I could not find a parts breakdown here at AppliancePartsPros but the Sears parts site has them.
Looks like the hood light is controlled be the main control board so that is the most likely culprit.
There are two relays on the board. HL relay 4909 closes when the light should be on high. Connects the light directly to 120 volts. HL relay 4910 closes when the light is on low. Connects the light through a diode (6908) and then to 120 volts. The diode cuts off half the 120 AC so basically the light not gets 60 volts.
Could be that the diode is shorted out so it is not rectifying the 120 volts or the electronics that control the relays are shot and are always activating either just the 4909 relay or both the relays no matter what the setting is. |
