Kenmore refrigerator with freezer on the bottom. Fridge not cooling and freezer keeps freezing over - not frost - ICE! To date I have replaced the defrost timer, defrost heater, thermostat and all door seals. The freezer will freeze over every 5-7 days - you have to turn it off, leave door open for a day and clean up the mess of lots of water! Only to start the process all over again - The refrigerator stays at around 50 degrees as well.
Any ideas? Could it be a bad water valve to the ice maker? I wonder what is causing all of the ice - It is not just FROST it is solid ice on the coils in the back and in the bottom of the freezer on the floor.
We tried turning the water off to the ice maker via the copper pipe but the valve handle was very old, small and delicate and broke off.:( HELP!
