My Maytag Centennial washer will only fill with hot water. Even on the cool setting, the hot will fill slightly and then the water shuts off when the cold was supposed to continue filling. There is a noise as if it is still on and trying to fill, but no water enters the tub.

Turn wall valve off for cold water. Remove cold water hose connection from washer and check washer inlet valve screen for blockage. Run cold water directly into washer from hose to make sure you have good water pressure. What is the model number of your washer?
