I have a GE washer that wont agitate. Fills and spins fine but no agitation. I checked the drive block but seems to be in good condition. Tranny does make a grinding noise. Please tell me it's NOT the transmission. Unless it is, I guess.

There's no "drive block" on this washer so I'm not sure what you checked. Is it the lower agitator that's not working or just the upper (auger)? If lower, take the front panel off and check that the belt and main drive pulley are rotating when in agitate mode. If they are working properly I would pull the agitator and agitator drive coupling and check to see if the splines inside the coupler are stripped.

Thanks for the reply. I pulled the agitator off of the hard plastic thing attached to the tranny shaft. I thought that was the drive block. the teeth or splines on the inside are good. I am not to familiar with this type of machine so I don't understand the upper and lower agitator setup. From what I can see, the motor pulley, belt and tranny pulley seem to rotate fine in agitator mode but there is no agitation. I only hear the clanking noise. the tub itself doesn't move nor the agitator. there is some play with the tub, don't know if that's normal. Once it hits the spin cycle, the tub spins and releases the water just fine, albeit with a quieter clanking sound.

Then, I'm afraid you have a bad transmission. Parts are not available for them so they are non-repairable. Eric

I have a GE washer model WRSR3140G1WW that will fill and turn the drum OK with no clothes in it but if clothes are put in it will not turn. I have not worked on any GE washers and need advice as to whether this is repairable at a decent cost. The washer is not much more than 6 or7 years old. It is good condition otherwise Originally Posted by: fairbank56 Then, I'm afraid you have a bad transmission. Parts are not available for them so they are non-repairable. Eric

Model number appears incorrect, should that be WBSR? Does it just not spin or no spin and agitate?

Eric As far as I can tell it is WRSR but it might be the other WBSR. It will not rotate the drum or agitate with clothing inside. With no clothing inside it will turn and agitate.
