GE Gas Dryer was stopping during cycle for a few minutes and then would start up again. It would do this several times during a cycle and oftentimes the clothes were still damp.

We switched from automatic cycle to timed cycle to see if that helped. Still stopping intermittently.

Put dryer into test mode, hoping the on-board diagnostics would help me. Then, error code 'E01' displayed and it will not clear. Have tried unplugging dryer for various time periods and it still will not start at all.

I have seen a few posts that indicate that 'E01' indicates an EEPROM error? A repairman that I called thought it was the thermistor or the main control board?

So, any suggestions? The 'E01' has completely shut down the dryer. It does not look too difficult to replace either part, but I want to know that it will fix the problem. Know any parts places in Dallas/Lewisville area?

Thanks.

eeprom and control panel are the same part. code does mean eeprom problems. parts in dallas area. **************.com enter model and you will get a parts breakdown. enter part no. to get price. or contact them on 800 no. shown on the website. thermistor is cheap, so replace it just for the heck of it. i don't think it is the problem
