Hi, I'm looking for some advice about what may be wrong with my front load washer. It doesn't spin fast anymore but it still agitates in both directions. It stopped working properly after it made a load bang. I don't smell anything weird either when I've tested it since.

I've read somewhere online about there being codes or tricks like opening closing the lid on some machines to get things working. Is there anything I can do, or do I need to call a repair service?

PS - I have two messy boys (9 and 10) so I need to get this fixed quickly.

Thank you.

Ok, it turns out this is really a Frigidaire made front loader, which GE sold under the GE brand name.

The lid thingee you mentioned is associated with GE top loaders, but there is some testing you can do if you had the service manual.

So here it is (yes it is for a Frigidaire)

Focus on the speed control unit and the door lock assembly and wiring.

Good luck.
