Our Viking Pro oven (electric) will not heat up. It has two controls, one for temp and one for function. ie. broil, convection, etc. On trying to turn on, the oven light (red led) does not come on. Is there a way of trouble shooting these controls. And, is there a further control panel in the back. It's heavy and I don't really want to pull it out if I can avoid it. Thanks. After checking deeper it seems as no A/C is getting to either controls. Oven light still works as do the gas stove igniters. After disconnecting and reconnecting what I think is a thermistor the oven has returned to normal. Not sure why as it was a short before and after.

Yes there is a control board. Does not sound like your problem.

The thermostat is mechanical so there are no "thermistors". What I believe you disconnected was the high limit switch. If this has failed or "opened" it will not allow power to the oven. Can you describe what you disconnected, appearance and location of component. There's also an auto-reset that's located on the rear that will give you the same problem.

It was a a 2x2 square in the middle of the back of the stove. It has two leads going to its' own connecter on the board and one metal probe going in with the heat sensor. Could very well be the high limit switch. By the time I checked it it was in a closed position and the oven had already returned to a working state. Looked for a reset, could not see one. Oven has been working since.

That is the auto reset. If it happens again replace it.

Thanks VikTech. Always nice to get some comments on such matters. Have not had a problem since but that will be the first place I go should it happen. Fingers crossed.
