My GE washer stops suddenly after starting a new load. The door also locks and won't release when this happens. If I push the buttons on the washer it will restart. What can I do to resolve this problem?

I'm not sure if this is what you wanted me to do or not but I entered the service mode per page 4 of the instructions that you posted. I then checked the error codes by pressing the start/pause button. After checking the error codes the only thing that came up was "E00". I tried turning the knob while in the error code mode and nothing else came up on the screen. I also did a pump test which seemed to work fine. What else can I try?

Hello,
Ok this is my sister in laws washer and today she told me that the washer intermittenly powers off during a cycle. She said when she presses the power button nothing happens. The washer is on its own dedicated circuit breaker with nothing else plugged into the outlet. When the washer powers off she said she will reset the circuit breaker and then the washer powers back up. She also said the circuit breaker is not tripped and is in the on position when she resets it. I tried doing a series of test on the washer while in the service mode and everything that I checked seems to be working fine. Can this be a faulty circuit breaker? The circuit breaker was just put in less than a year ago. Thank you for any help or advice you can give to me.

My sister in laws GE washer stops in the middle of a load and there is no power and the door locks. Unplugging it for 30 seconds doesn't help. Outlet and circuit breaker are not faulty. No power at all. What else could be causing it to be having these problems:confused:

Right after it happen, check for 120 VAC between the black and white wires connected to the power control board at the J16 plug. If the reading is correct, most likely the power control board is the culprit. - The power control board Part number: WH12X10483

Thanks for your quick response. The day that this happened it turned itself back on later that evening and finished the load that was locked in the washer. But this has been going on like this for a couple of months. I will admit that I'm a novice at this but I'm pretty handy. So do you have some literature that you can send me to guide me on how to take the washer apart and test the j16 plug that you refer to? I'm also guessing that I would need a multimeter to do this test? Can the test be done at any time or just when the washer is acting up again?

The instructions are attached to the post. You should run this test at the time when the washer is malfunctioning. Otherwise it's useless. You have to have a simple multimeter to do it. Be careful not to electrocute yourself during the test. If you don't feel comfortable to work under power, it's better to hire someone. - The example of the multimeter Part number: AP5641751
