about 1 year old and just quit working. I have checked power connection beneath kick plate, good connections and power coming to dishwasher.

Checked door switches for continuity - 0 ohms
checked fuse for continuity - 0 ohms

I am not sure where to go from here. tried Google as far as what steps I should take next but didn't come up with much.

Do you have the tech sheet?
It is often behind the kick plate.

I am assuming that the unit is totally dead (shows no sign of life).

If you have 120 volts between P2 and P6 on the control board then odds are that the control board is toast.

so I am NOT supposed to have 120 between P2 and P6? ok

I do have the tech sheet and will check that out tonight
after work.

No, you are supposed to have it there.
It is the power that runs the DC power supply on the board.
