Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 1/28/2008(UTC) Posts: 2		I have a GE washer that fills up OK and when it starts to agitate I get a clicking noise from down below... It seems like it is trying to go through the agitation cycle but is not quite getting it done. You can hear the motor start and then the click and stop. Motor, click, stop etc. I can set the washer to spin and it will pump out the water and spin with seemingly no problem. Sooo.... I question is could it be the control panel and not driving the motor correctly or could it be the motor itself. Or maybe even the transmission? Not sure any ideas would be great!!

I have the same problem described in this thread...agitation cycle makes a clicking noise. Fills, drains, and spins just fine. Removed agitator, checked coupler, it's good. I need help. Could it be a bad winding in the motor? Something with the clutch or transmission? Other people here had the same identical problem...WHAT'S THE FIX???

The front panel is fastened at the top by 2 metal spring clips, and at the bottom by 2 metal tabs, which protrude from the base of the unit into slots in the panel bottom. Most major mechanical components can be accessed by removing the front panel. To remove the front panel: Locate 2 spring clips between the top cover and front panel by aligning a putty knife with left or right edge of lid. Insert the putty knife and push forward to release clips. Rotate the front panel forward and lift off the bottom tabs. You will need to start a wash cycle, and allow the washer to run, be extremely carefull of moving parts. While the washer is running, you will need to isolate the area where the noise is located, if the noise is from the motor area, you'll need to look for a burnt spot on the drive belt, or you'll need a new motor/clutch assembly, Part number: AP3160670 If the noise is from the center(transmission) area, you'll need a new transmission Part number: AP2046402 It is not a repairable assembly. I'm taking for granted you have already removed the agitator and tub and checked the tub mount plate, agitator coupling and hub split ring, etc. Good Luck, :) :) :)
