Hi everyone. I have a GE Side by Side that is about 14 months old (go figure) that has developed an apparent issue. I don't have a lot of experience with appliance repair/troubleshooting, so I'm wondering if you might be able to provide some input.
Woke up this morning to a 'clicking' sound coming from the freezer every couple seconds. Opened the door to find it was the ice maker. Noticed there were some larger than normal ice cubes halfway 'dumped' into the ice container. Shut off the ice maker, pulled out the ice cubes, the ice maker 'fingers' returned to their normal position. Turned the ice maker back on, clicking sound was gone, I figured all was well. Then I noticed a few minutes later that the freezer was still running. OK, maybe it hasn't caught up yet from the door being open for a while. 20 minutes later, still running. Unplug for a few minutes to 'reset'? Plug back in, 1 hour later and its still running. Changing the temperature setting has no effect. Freezer is at set temperature (or very close anyway) as confirmed by putting a remote outdoor thermometer inside.
Any help/ideas where to start? They would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Slight update here. After letting it sit and continue to run, the freezer temperature is down to -11F (set at +5F). Seems like it must be some issue with the internal temperature sensor or temperature control. Seems unlikely that its just a coincidence with the previous ice maker issue though.
Any tips for checking/troubleshooting the temperature sensor? Thanks again.

Hello, Very likely the problem is a bad thermistor in the freezer. There are two thermistors in the freezer. You can find them in the general locator view file attached to the post. The bottom thermistor is the one which should be replaced. - The thermistor Part number: WR55X10025

Thanks for the helpful information. Certainly sounds like its worth it to try this for the $9 part as a first step.
Is it likely that my ice maker issue is related? Freezer was too cold and screwed up the ice making process? Wondering if these issues commonly appear together or if it may have been a crazy coincidence.
