This is my first post and a long story inwhich I'll attempt to give as much detail as possible.
I have a GE JE2160SF001, about 5-6 weeks ago it started acting up. I could heat only small items for short periods, like a cup of water for 30-60 seconds but if I tried something larger like a dinner for 3-4 or 5 minutes it was if it would overheat and stop microwaving. Everything "appeared" normal in that the light lit, the turntable turned etc. I could not heat a small cup of water after attempting to heat something large, but if I waited a few hours I could do small stuff for short periods. Then after being like that for a few weeks the wife went to use it one morning and it went DOA/Dark/Dead. I called a repair guy who said he'd replace the Magentron because of the heating issue, the diode, the switches and the 20amp fuse. He wanted $300 which I declined. After he left I then replaced the 20 amp fuse and the panel lit up normal, but if I attempted to heat anything it would only run (normal) for 2-3 seconds and then go dark/blow the 20 amp fuse. So I ordered this below last week from APP:
Magnetron WB27X10682
Secondary Switch WB24X823
Sub Switch WB2410103
Door lock Switch WB24X824
Diode WB27X10687 ( which had an in-line "cylinder" shaped thing vs the "rectanglular" one it replaced, is this normal???)
When I did I was a bit confused as to what switch was what and which switches I needed. As such, this query accompanied my order:
"The little trouble shooting sheet that comes with the microwave states: " When 20 amp fuse is blown due to operation of monitor switch-both interlock switches and the monitor switch must be replaced"
I am indeed blowing the 20 amp fuse, I just want to be sure that my order of parts as outlined above meets this prescribed requirement, if not please let me now what I am lacking..."
I was assured that more order appeared appropriate...
Parts arrived yesterday and I installed today. Now that I've been in there I realize that there are basically two "upper" switched and two "lower" ones that are basically side-by-side" I recieved (and installed) the two upper ones and the inside lower switch. It is now evident that I didn't order, thus did not repace the lower "outside" switch. I'm wondering if this/is was the switch reffered to as a "must replace" above?
After installing the parts, I replace the 20amp fuse, plugged it in, set the time, went to open the door to put a cup of water in and it went dark/blank. I unplugged, put the cup of water in, replaced the fuse again, plugged it in, set the time, started to "heat" the water for 30 seconds. The digital numbers on the display began to count down normally but it was obvious no heating was going on, turntable wasn't turning etc. I opened the door and the display faded to dark once again. When I first set it to "cook" I could hear a "click-click" but nothing else was happening.
What do I need to do now?
