I am familiar with thr repair of an older fridge with the defrost timer, heater and thermostat, but cant find any of that on the parts diagram. Fridge is 65 F freezer is 0 F. inside edge of left door (bottom freezer model) is quite warm. Fan is blowing in fridge, light frost in freezer. is there any way to manually start the defrost cycle and go from there?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for Whirlpool GX5SHTXVB00 REFRIGERATOR | AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for the tech sheet. It has a number of diagnostics you can run. Is the compressor running ll the time? This would be a symptom of a defrost problem. If it is cycling normally then it is probably a problem with the damper (Item 15 in Section 6) of the parts. It controls the amount of cold air entering the fresh food section. Could be a problem with it, or the control electronics or the fresh food thermistor. |

Hi, The compressor is running all the time.
I don't see an attachment, just a link to the parts list. I also unplugged it for about a half hour trying to reset it. still acts the same, but the left door is no longer warm on the inner edge. thx.

Thanks for the tech sheet. My wife cleaned the fridge before I had a chance to try it and i am guessing thawed out the damper. It has been working fine for 4 days.
