The motor died on my kitchenaid washer. A friend has a motor that is almost identical to the one I need. The only difference is my current motor amps are 9.8/8.9/9.8 and the motor my friend has offered has amps of 9.8/8.8/9. Can I use my friends motor or do I need to find the exact motor I currently have?

Hi.
Most likely you can use this motor. If it's free - don't think twice. For more professional advise get me the other motor part number.
Thank you.
Simon.

Hi. Sorry, not crossing over according the Whilpool. I'm curious, what is the original problem? What make you think it's the motor? If the motor hums, check the amp draw. If it's much more then rated you need to replace the speed selector switch Part number: 3952578
Thank you. Simon.

Washe quit running Tuesday night. Smoke came up from the drum and the motor was extremely hot. Got the motor to run the next morning and found a worn belt on top of the gearcase...so I thougth I might have a brake/clutch issue. Had a tech look at it and he said it was definitely the motor. $240 to replace the motor. Can't find the exact motor I need for a cheap price so I had hoped this other motor would work. It is identical to the motor I pulled from my machine except for the amps.

Hi.
Connect the replacement motor to the harness and run it without installing. If it's free you have nothing to loose.
Simon.
