I dont know all the details as i am writing this for a friend. But as i understand, the washer does not agetate, spin nor does all the water drain out of it. She did laundry and majority of water drained but there was still 2 to 3 inches at the bottom, it does sound like something is moving within, but i see nothing happening,,all help is appreciated. Thank You,,

This is pretty old washer which is not easy to fix by DIY person. Also at least 50% of parts for this washer are no longer available. If you feel comfortable to fix it, then I need more detailed description on the problem. What it does when it should agitate and/or spin? Does the motor work? Does it make any noise? Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Whirlpool LA7800XPW0 | AppliancePartsPros.comGene.

I have a Whirlpool Imperial Seventy LA7800XPW. The washer does not agitate, spin, or pump the water out. The motor runs, the belt is intact but loose. I haven't done any troubleshooting, but I tilted the machine to see if there was a belt and if it was broken. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You, Bob

Nice to see somebody talking about the LA7800XPW. Its a good machine that has served me well. Until the problem:
It broke a part I identified as a 350384, its a pin that goes in a solenoid and slides along a gear shifting slider. I found and purchased the part online, even though Whirlpool says its no longer available.
Now the hard part: How do I get to the place to replace it? Either I have to release the arm that holds the solenoid, or the guide track it slides on. What moves? How and where do I release it (and then put it back)?
