A couple of months ago, my Maytag Atlantis washer started squealing during the spin cycle only, not during aggitation. It then stopped for several weeks. Now it has started back up. The squeal is relatively constant during the spin cycle, although it does continuously change pitch. I replaced the belt and this did not help. I ran the washer with the front panel off, and the squeal is coming from down low, close to the floor, but I am unable to figure out exactly what is causing it. Does anyone have any ideas of what may be causing it? Anything else I can do to help trouble shoot? Most likely culprits that I can replace that would be cheaper than a service call?

Thanks in advance.

Noises like this are very difficult for us to diagnose because we really need to be there to hear it and hear where it is coming from.

Normally this type of noise might be in the tub bearings, but if it is really coming from down low it can be the pulley, the motor bearings or the pump.
