I have a general electric microwave oven. Model #JE1140WMC
I have owned the model for 2 years now.

Yesterday my microwave oven was working. It was displaying the time, cooking and had no problems.

Woke up this morning to find the display which is normally lit in green on a black background was blank. Tried pressing the buttons to set the clock. Nothing responds. Tried each button to cook a cup of water. Nothing works.

I performed the following tests:

1) Checked the outlet the microwave is plugged into and it works.
2) Opened the microwave oven up. Discharged the capacitor and checked the fuse for continuity. Sure enough the fuse had gone bad.

After replacing the fuse and reconnecting the microwave to outlet the display now comes back on. I set the time.

Next I opened the microwave oven door. The interior light comes on as normal when the door is opened. I place a cup of water inside. I close the door. Upon closing the door the microwave oven interior light turns off as normal. I set the microwave to cook for 30 seconds and then I press start.

Now when I press start I hear 2 clicking sounds and the timer counts down. However the microwave is not cooking. There is no hum. The interior light which normally turns on during the cooking process is off. Once the timer reaches zero the microwave makes 2 clicking sounds.

Not sure what the problem could be.
