KitchenAid ice maker works fine as long as the ice cutter grid is unplugged. Clean light starts flashing and it becomes very warm inside the unitand it stops making ice when the ice cutter grid is plugged back in. Do I need to replace the ice cutting grid or is there something more sinister going on inside the control panel?

Hi. The problem that you are describing could be caused by shorted cutter grid or mad control board. Definitely start with the grid first. The ice cutting grid Part number: 2313637

Replaced cutting grid, did not fix problem. Replaced mother board, did not fix problem. Replaced bin thermistor and still does not work. The unit will make one slab of ice, but shuts down before the second cycle starts and the clean light starts flashing continuously. Any other ideas?
