Hello,

We have an a Whirlpool Super Capacity 465 (Model RF370LXGN) electric range. Recently, the left front burner has gotten excessively hot more than once. Yesterday the control was set to 3 and nearly caused a fire because the entire element was uncharacteristically bright red (so much for the chicken!)

Would the control knob be the problem, or is there any other thermostat?

Thanks

Most likely the problem is a bad infinite switch for this burner.

- The switch Part number: AP3095444

Thanks Gene. You said 'most likely' the problem is the infinite switch. Is there any test to be certain?

Thank you for your assistance.

I have the same problem of a burner that gets WAY too hot on a Whirlpool gr440lxmb0. DO you have the part I would need to replace?

Hey Gene, we're having the same problem with our Frigidaire® cook top stove. No matter what we set the control to, it goes to HIGH heat. The connector seems loose in the metal holder like the melted holders to the bracket are wiggly now. Perhaps you might know a part number for this?

Thanks,

J.R.
