Bob Greene: I have GE JES1655WF001 microwave oven. Unit works fine except it is not heating and making loud buzzing noise if turned on. Last 2 times this happened (once in this unit) the magnetron was replaced. What are the chances it is the magnetron again and if so how can I test unit easily or replace the magnetron and see if that is it?

The loud noise indicates that the diode or the capacitor is bad. Capacitors give very little trouble but if bad can cause this problem. More than likely the diode is bad and if this is the case on this model I am almost certain the magnetron tube is bad as well. This page should help in replacing the magnetron tube GE Spacemaker Microwave Magnetron Tube Replacement
