Hi,

I have a GE Spacemaker JVM1650BB microwave and a few months ago the turntable quit turning. It didn't happen instantaneously, at first it would turn a bit & stop while making grinding noise. So I assume it's not controls issue but some part of the drive failing.

So, I have a couple of questions:

1) what could possibly fail. I am not familiar with design of turntable drive, is there anything other than motor (clutch / transmission of some sort) that could fail ? I am sure motor is dead by now anyway, it makes no noise anymore.

2) can anyone point me to the diagram with correct part #s

3) Is it possible to repair this without taking microwave off the wall. I'd rather not do it. I can disconnect the power at breaker & I have access to bottom and front but not back.

Thanks !

Hi.

To determine witch part is at fault, take screws around the bottom/base out and open it.
Take two screws, holding the turn table motor out, pull out the motor.

With the motor out turn the microwave on.

If the motor turns - replace the coupler(plastic part above the motor). The access to it from inside the microwave.
