I am rebuilding my Kenmore Heavy Duty 70 Series washer, model # 11082873100 using parts from AppliancePartsPros.

I would like to know what is the recommended grease to use on the spin tube when I reassemble the unit. When I took it apart there was some sort of brownish-black grease on the tube and shaft. I have cleaned off this old grease with degreaser. On the american-appliance.com web site they show a "special grease" which looks pink in the picture, but they do not say what type of grease it is.

Would white lithium grease - Lubriplate be OK to use or is there a special type. Also where can I buy the grease you recommend.

Thank you, I am a first-time do-it-yourselfer for washing machines type, but have some general mechanical expereince.

Mike,

Whirlpool recommends a special "pink" grease to use for washer spin tubes and cam bearings. You can buy it from AppliancePartsPros.com
