The compressor in my Frigidaire side-by-side model FRS6LR5EW6 does not run at times. It seemed the compressor was attempting to start but could not. Per my wife there was a "clicking noise". I unplugged the unit for a few minutes and the compressor started with no problems. The compressor failed again the following day. Unplugging the unit for 10 minutes did not fix the problem. However, an hour or so later it kicked on and began cooling. I've been unable to simulate the problem or noise. For the last 20 hours the refrigerator has cooled with no issues. I initially thought thermostat but the noise has thrown me off. Tapping on the temperature controls while the compressor was not running did not do anything, however, the internal temperature of the refrigerator was good at that time. What is causing this problem? Relay? Manufactured in 11/06 and in use since 12/06.
Thanks in advance for your time, Chris

Thanks denman. Everything you mentioned is running and has been cleaned. I have not had any issues since I first posted. Is it possible it is the starter? Is it worth replacing the starter? Thanks.

Yes It could be the starter but i would not replace it unless it begins to act up again.
It may also be that the condenser fan is intermittent so check hat while it is not working to be sure that is n ot the problem. |
