Hi,

Been using a Samsung AW06ECB8 window air conditioner for about 3-4 years. Dark, dusty-looking crap has appeared on the outflow vents, and I presume it's mold...? So I probably need to clean the entire airflow path, not just the intake area. The manual, of course, only explains how to clean dust off the foam filter that sits in front of the fins. But there's actually dust and hair matted up on parts of the fins, too (guess it worked its way around the foam), and of course the fins get moist during our humid summers, so moldy conditions seem likely. My wife's been having breathing problems since summertime, and I'd like to get this possible source cleaned up.

What's the best way to clean the entire airflow path on one of these? Is it even possible?

I'm having the same issues. I want to clean the inside out because my wife and I started having allergy and breathing issues. Upon inspection of the window air unit, we noticed that the unit has mold/mildew in the unit itself.

I would like to fix this issue myself and if not, would a repair shop be able to clean it up?
