Hello, Our Magic Chef oven won't get hot enough to bake. :( It reaches about 200 degrees at most (Not thermometer checked), but the broiler was working when I tested it yesterday. Stove top works just fine. This unit, I think, was the original appliance with our home when it was built in 1989. Has anyone had this problem, and do you know how much it would be to fix? Should we just invest in a new unit? Thank you!!!!!

Quote:oven won't get hot enough to bake The model appears to be a gas range whose oven uses a 'hot surface' (glow ignitor) ignition system. A first step in diagnosing possible causes will be to observe what the oven ignitor is doing when the oven should be heating. You can read about how common gas oven ignition systems work and the observations and tests necessary to start diagnosing problems with them at the following link: LINK > Understanding Gas Oven Ignition SystemsQuote:Should we just invest in a new unit? Not before you find out what and how much fixing yours is going to cost so you can make an informed decision between those options. JMO Dan O. www.Appliance411.com The Appliance Information Site=D~~~~~~

Quote:I need help installing it though. Any tips or tricks? Nope, other than do NOT use plastic wire nuts if you have to cut and join the wires. Only porcelain or ceramic wires nuts should be used due to the heat in that area. JMO Dan O. www.Appliance411.com The Appliance Information Site=D~~~~~~
