My 4 year old HE3 started making noise in the spin cycle a couple of weeks ago and is getting worse:mad:. Inspecting today, I found white shavings inside the rubber seal between the door and tub, I also found that the white plastic rim connecting the rubber seal to the tub is cracked. It also seems that the front of the tub (towards the door) is an inch too low. Holding it up makes the tub manually spin much easier. Help! I've taken the back off this machine before to unclog the drain, so i'm not a rookie... but no expert. Thanks!!!:D

OK, my wife is giving me until Monday to fix it or the Sears guy is coming (with his big bill). Looking again, that white cracked plastic looks broken 180 degrees around the tub. I'll try to align the tub, but in case I need a new plastic rim/rubber seal, could you send the link to the part? Thanks.. I'll reply my findings tomorrow.

I took the top off of the washer and found that both springs, all 4 hydrollic legs, and the cement weight all on top appear to be working/in place. It looks like the part you have above is the right one, but looks incredibly hard to replace. Turns out the white plastic rim is a barrier between the inner and outer lining of the tub, so I'm not sure or not if the entire tub is out of alignment or not. I can't hardly see or reach where the rubber connects to this part and I'm pretty sure I'd have to remove the entire tub from the back to replace it, correct?
I'm hoping that this part broke because of poor quality of the orginal and nothing else caused it. If you think an intermediate level guy can pull this off, please send a few more scecific instructions if you know. Thanks!!!

Hi Smitty

Take a good long look at the Service Manual and then you can decide if you want to attempt the repair.

A rear bearing failure might have caused your damage, so you need to be prepared to fix that also.

These machines are great when they work, but when they do not the repairs are complicated and expensive. If you decide to go with a new washer I would recommend a basic top loader, it will do a great job for you, cost less than any other option, be easy to repair and be less likely to need repair.
