Hello Friends,

I have just replaced the motor in my Whirlpool dryer. The windings in the former motor finally failed. Prior to failure, the motor chirped loudly (dry metal on metal sound) and hummed loudly. After installing the new motor, the unit continues to have a loud hum.

I am thinking that the drum bearings may be so worn that it is overworking the motor. It could also be (not likely) a frame vibration.

Have any of you experienced this same issue and if so, what was the resolve.

Thank You

Take the back off the dryer , remove 2 screws under the lint filter on top of dryer, go to the back of dryer again remove 6 screws from blower housing and move housing to the right, check blower wheel and the inside area for lint or nails or coins etc..

Yes, I replaced the blower wheel when I installed the new motor. It is clear on any debris.
