I think I'm having the same problem; this morning I tried to turn the oven on, went back and no fire. Top burners and broiler both work fine. I went ahead and ordered an oven igniter from here. I'm assuming, since everything else works, that the electrical is working, and gas is working, that the igniter is actually the problem. Could it be something else? Thanks in advance.

While a weak igniter is the most common problem for all gas ovens, there also can be a problem with a gas safety valve and/or an oven temperature control (oven thermostat or control board). In order to prevent unnecessary money spending it is a good idea to perform a simple troubleshooting, using a simple multimeter.

If the igniter does glow but does not light up the burner, then just replace the igniter.

If you would like to confirm the correctness of the igniter part number you ordered, post the complete model number of the oven.

The bottom igniter does not glow at all; I assume not opening the valve to release the gas. There is no problem with the top igniter (broiler) or any of the burners on top of the stove. Thanks

Yay! That WAS the problem. I'm very grateful for your advice, Gene. Although getting to the igniter was a little more difficult than I first believed. Thanks again.
