I recently purchased a brand new Samsung microwave - and the turntable will not turn. I have checked the plate and rotating wheel assembly underneath it and they're fine. The black spindle that connects to the motor underneath rotates when I turn it - it sounds like the motor is winding when I move the spindle. What could be the problem?

It is either physically binding and unable to turn, the motor is bad, or the motor is not getting power from the main board. You need to see if it is getting the power to it and if it is , the motor must be bad or binding somehow. I have seen a couple where they got power and just needed to be taken out and re-installed and then they worked fine. If there is no power then the issue is on the board side.
