Thanks, but I see you are in Texas and I am no where near there. I wish I could find someone to look at it and not charge if they don't fix it. I have spent so much money already on this problem.

The only thing he changed was he cut a wire (inside the receptacle) and re-attached it. Just to make sure it was tight (I guess). When he did that it made me think how could it be the dryer? because it worked for a minute.

Well, I went the friend route and he said either his meter was not right or there is not enough power to run a dryer. This is the same thing all the repair people tell me. So how did I run a dryer for 7 years and then another one for 2 months? My imagination, I guess. No one will agree to come out and look at the problem and determine there is nothing wrong for free, they all charge something. Some less than others. I called a lot of electricians. I am going to try one more electrician but I have already spoke with him on the phone in great detail about the problem and he thinks it is the dryer, so he may be charging me for nothing again. At this point I have to let go of the idea of having a dryer again. I have never had this kind of issue before. If something breaks I call up the repairman, he fixes it, I pay, it stays fixed and end of story, but this story has no end.....

Update (if anybody cares...lol) even I am sick of this story. Had a licensed very experienced electrican come out today. He said all the wiring checks out and is plenty to run a dryer. He said he can try replacing the receptacle (again, it was just replaced a few months ago.) I told him if that does not work or only works temporarily I would like an estimate to have all new wiring installed, new circuit breaker, etc. That way everything having to do with the dryer (including the dryer itself) has been replaced (except the 4 walls surrounding it! haha) At first he said he didn't advise me to do this, but I asked him if he had a better idea and he just scratched his head. I am sure it's in the hundreds if not thousands to do this. ($) I could have bought a dryer made of gold or bought a whole laundromat by now. Maybe one day I will look back and laugh at the whole thing...I hope!

Another Update:
I'm so glad you guys are here. It helps to write about this mess and hopefully get to the bottom of the problem. (I think I am driving my friends and family crazy with the story) It gets even crazier now. The appliance repairman did show up today (after waiting 6 hours) He is nice, but busy. He replaced the receptacle and the dryer cord and took the whole dryer apart to check for damaged, loose wires, etc. Everything was in order and the dryer worked! (short lived). After he put it back together it did not work UserPostedImage so now he thinks its a bad timer on the dryer. He has to order the part and he will come back next Monday. In the meantime I called the electrician and he is now thinking it is the breaker and will replace it with a 30amp tomorrow afternoon. Replacing bit by bit, it has to work eventually.

So yesterday the electrician came out and replaced the circuit breaker and magic! the dryer works. But I still am not sure I should use if for now. It is making a very loud noise when you run it. I am afraid I might be damaging it further. I think when the repairman took it apart he did not put something back together right. So now I will have to waste another day of waiting for him to show up on Monday and hopefully everything is great after he fixes the loud noise problem!

This is just dragging on and on. Yesterday the repairman was supposed to call between 8am-12 so he can put my dryer back together and hopefully it will stop making the ratting noise. I received no call and he did not show up. When I called the Repairman's phone the girl was vague about whether he would even show up anytime. I then called Lowe's and asked for another Repair Company. The first available appt they had was Oct 31st so I took the appt but I am still not sure whether I should use my dryer with the rattling noise in the mean time. If I press against the part with the controls the noise stops but if I let go the noise comes back. At this point I am getting used to having no dryer but I have spent so much money on this problem to still end up with an iffy dryer and repairmen (that I already paid for in the warranty) that do not show up. I will never buy anything from Lowe's again, they just don't stand behind their products or their repair service. Maybe one day I can stop whining about this problem.
