My dreyer is not drying clothes,And it also won't shut down in auto cycle.. No blockage in exhaust,Although I did not check deep internal ducting, I see the heat come on for a minute or two once in a while. What is the solution and is relatively simple?? Thanks

That model # is not coming up. But if it is a gas dryer, it definetly sounds like the coils on the gas valve are bad. The secondary coil is not kicking in. Easy repair, and a cheap repair. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

My dryer has this model number: 417.90042990. It also says... Gas input 20.000 BTU / hr,
What is the possible part I need to replace. Suddenly stopped heating up last day or so. Not sure exactly when. Wife claims to have heard a sound that didn't sound right... sounds normal now... but no heat.

ofuel,
You have to have a simple multimeter to perform the troubleshooting. Let us know when you are ready.

Gene. These are pictures of a part I think might be the culprit. I was making some rattling noise when I pulled it off. The three wires (two are on the same terminal) ... should they be connected together to test, or left un-connected? It looks to be a heat switch. (when it gets over a certain temp, it either connects the circuit or breaks it. (do you know which is supposed to do?) Also... Is it worth trying to fix this dryer if it's 10 years old, and we can replace it with one that works for $75 bucks on craigs list?
