I have this Kenmore compactor and when the switch is in the normal mode, I have to hold (for the full cycle) the rotarty switch in the clockwise rotated position to get it to complete a full down/up cycle. Seems to me that I should be able to twist the rotart control fully clockwise, make momentary contact and then let go, and then it should run a full down/up cycle. If the switch is in the super compact position, I can twist the control and let go and it will run to the fully down position without holding the switch. Am I correct about the statement that I should not have to hold the switch to run a normal cycle? If so, what part has failed? Thanks for any help, Frank

The first thing I would suspect is the cycle switch.

- The part number for the cycle switch is AP2948815
