I'm really hoping I can get some answers here.
I have a 5 element Kenmore cooktop that's only a couple of years old. It operates normally, but when you turn it off after use, the internal cooling fan stays on forever with the display reading "HE" until you smack the top with your open hand, and it then shuts off like it should. I should also add that this only happens with one of the elements...when you use the other four, the fan shuts down normally after 10 minutes or so.
After looking at the schematic and tracing out wiring to the cooling fan. I was thinking it was maybe the relay board, part# 316442116 and replaced it.
Unfortunately, the problem is still there. I'm out of ideas. Has anyone worked on one of these?

Here is the wiring diagram http://manuals.frigidaire.com/p...df/Kinston/154297101.pdfIf you go to the Sears parts site you will see Item 141 in the Maintop parts diagram. They call them switches but they look like thermostats. Sears part number 318005217, AppliancePartsPros part number AP4316351. I think these are the H. S. LIM. lower left corner of the wiring diagram. I would replace the one that is close/under the element which causes the problem. Sounds like it's contacts are sticking closed. |

Thanks for the reply Denman-
I've actually tried swapping switches around from under another burner but the problem is still there. Is it possible that the switch could be still picking up the heat from the other burner?

Is it possible that the switch could be still picking up the heat from the other burner? I guess it is possible. Problem is that if this is the case then perhaps another switch not directly by the element could be the culprit. Note: I tried to bring up the wiring diagram and came up with a dishwasher so here is another try at it. http://manuals.frigidaire.com/p...assomption/318046835.pdf |

Unfortunately, the problem is still there. I'm totally out of ideas now. Has anyone worked on one of these units before?

I'm having same problem, but with a Frigidair. I would expect solution to be same with mine just different brands.
