I bought a Maytag portable dishwasher (model # PDC3600AWE) about 5 years ago and it worked perfectly until last week. I filled it up with dishes last weekend and I plugged it in and it filled with water, and when it tried to begin the wash cycle it just made a "Bzzzzzzz" sound and then stopped (like it shorted out). I unplugged it and waited about 5 minutes and plugged it back in and the same thing happened. I disassembled all of the components inside of the washer and there was nothing gumming up the motor. I tipped the the dishwasher on its side to look underneath. Plugged it in and tried to find out where the buzzing was coming from and I don't think that it is the motor. It sounds like it is coming from the relay. Would the relay switch buzz, or would it click? The motor turns fine, and the sound doesn't seem to be coming from the motor, could it still be the motor?
