It just stops at about the time it should start pumping out the water on the regular wash cycle. It also fails on the second rinse. If it sits for a while, an hour or more, I can raise and lower the lid and it will start again and finish normally. So far there's been no problem on the permanent press cycle. I was thinking timer, but now I think it has more to do with the pump cycle.

You were right. I was trying to make it too complicated. I replaced the swiotch and am back in business.
